▪️ 서울국제프라이드영화제는?

서울국제프라이드영화제는(이하 프라이드영화제) 세계 각국의 빛나는 퀴어영화를 소개하며 성소수자의 삶과 고민을 관객과 함께 나누는 영화제입니다.

한국을 대표하는 성소수자 영화제로 성장하며 새로운 작품의 프리미어 공개와 국제 교류의 거점으로서 그 역할을 넓혀가고 있습니다.

영화제의 태동과 성장

프라이드영화제는 2026년 기준 제16회 를 맞이하여, 국내외 퀴어영화의 역사와 흐름을 꾸준히 축적해온 하나의 뮤지엄과도 같습니다.

2011년 서울LGBT영화제로 시작해, 2019년 ‘서울국제프라이드영화제(SIPFF)’로 승격되며 한국 퀴어영화의 성취를 국제 무대로 확장함과 동시에

세계의 동시대 퀴어영화가 서울에서 만나는 구조를 본격적으로 만들어 왔습니다.

프리미어에서 커뮤니티까지, 영화로 확장되는 교류의 장

프라이드영화제는 매년 전 세계 30여 개국에서 110여 편을 상영하며, 이 중 절반 이상을 국내 최초로 소개하고 있으며,

이를 통해 한국 관객이 동시대 퀴어영화를 가장 먼저 만나는 창구로 자리해 왔습니다. 또한 경쟁 부문 시상, GV, 마스터 클래스, 특별전 등

다양한 프로그램을 포럼과 커뮤니티, 부스 운영과 연계해 영화인과 관객이 자연스럽게 교류하는 장으로 확장해 왔습니다.

이러한 시도는 영화제의 접근성을 높이고, 성소수자의 삶에 대한 공감과 인식의 확장을 꾸준히 뒷받침해 왔습니다.

“From the Heart of Korean Queer Cinema to the Center of Global Queer Cinema”

▪️ What is the Seoul International PRIDE Film Festival?

The Seoul International PRIDE Film Festival (SIPFF) is a leading LGBTQ+ film festival that showcases outstanding queer cinema

from around the world while creating opportunities for audiences to engage with the diverse lives, experiences,

and perspectives of LGBTQ+ people. As Korea’s premier queer film festival, SIPFF continues to expand its role as a

platform for international exchange, artistic discovery, and the presentation of new voices in queer cinema.

The Beginning and Growth of the Festival

As of 2026, SIPFF celebrates its 16th edition. Over the years, it has built a rich archive of Korean and international queer cinema,

preserving and presenting the history, achievements, and evolution of queer filmmaking. The festival was founded in 2011 as the Seoul LGBT Film Festival.

In 2019, it was elevated to the Seoul International PRIDE Film Festival (SIPFF), expanding Korean queer cinema onto the international stage while establishing Seoul as a meeting place for contemporary queer cinema from around the world.

From Premieres to Community: Expanding Connections Through Film

Each year, SIPFF presents more than 110 films from over 30 countries, with more than half of the selections introduced to

Korean audiences for the first time. Through this commitment, the festival has become a key gateway for discovering contemporary queer cinema.

In addition to screenings, SIPFF offers a wide range of programs including competition awards, guest visits (GVs), master classes, and special exhibitions.

By connecting these programs with forums, community events, and exhibition booths, the festival creates meaningful opportunities for filmmakers,

artists, and audiences to engage with one another. These efforts have continually expanded accessibility while fostering greater understanding and

empathy for LGBTQ+ lives and experiences.
